Friday: Bianchi in doubt, Chilton happy at Marussia
The Marussia team, celebrated for earning its first two points at the F1 Monaco Grand Prix, approached the Canadian weekend with mixed results: Jules Bianchi faced major issues during FP2, while Max Chilton was spared and managed to have a full day.
Jules Bianchi (No. 17) – 19th and 22nd
Faced with an engine problem that immobilized him during Free Practice 2, the Frenchman is treading on eggshells: « It has been a difficult day […] At least we managed to get some data to work on to try to prepare for tomorrow, but FP3 will be a bit like walking in the dark. Nevertheless, we have studied things beforehand and I am confident that we can still have a good weekend. »
Max Chilton (No. 4) – 20th and 18th
For the young Briton, on the contrary, Friday was good: « I am happy with where we ended the day on the timesheet. I think we got quite a lot out of the car today and, most importantly, I had a very positive FP2. We had a good long run with the car that seems quite competitive, so I hope we can maintain this progress tomorrow. »
