Alonso is “very proud” of Bianchi’s race in Monaco
Jules Bianchi made a lasting impression at this Monaco Grand Prix by scoring the first points of his career as well as the first points in the history of Marussia in Formula 1. The chorus of praises doesn't stop, led by congratulations from his friend, Fernando Alonso, who is part of the Ferrari family just like the Frenchman.
With his hard-fought ninth place secured between the rails of the Principality of Monaco, Nice’s Jules Bianchi made headlines in the best possible way this Sunday. The forecourt of the Marussia motorhome was bustling after the race, with everyone wanting to congratulate the young Frenchman on his achievement.
After the race, the double world champion, Fernando Alonso, made a point of expressing his pride to see his friend scoring points for the first time in his career: Jules is not only a driver from the Ferrari Driver Academy, he’s also a friend, the Spaniard noted before adding: It’s fantastic and I’m very happy for him.
The two men are close, both on the races and outside, as Alonso, fourth in Monaco, specifies: « We spent quite a bit of time together in Maranello, playing football or cycling, and we sometimes travel together for the races. I am extremely happy for him and very proud of this result which is very important in his career. »
Alonso envisions a rather promising future for the Frenchman, who is in his second season in the discipline: « I have no doubt that he will have a great career. But I hope that with this result, he can have a more competitive car next year so that he can demonstrate his talent more often. »
