Jules Bianchi, qualified 19th behind the wheel of his Marussia, was handed a five-place grid penalty this Sunday.
The cause is the change of his gearbox that occurred from Saturday night to Sunday morning while a malfunction was revealed by the Anglo-Russian team. With this penalty, the Frenchman will start from the back of the grid, in 21st place, Marcus Ericsson starting from the pits due to his penalty for hitting Felipe Massa’s Williams in Q1 yesterday.
A long and difficult race awaits Bianchi in the narrow streets of Monaco where overtaking is very difficult.
