Chilton and Marussia expect progress in Monaco
After two days of testing at the Barcelona circuit ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix, Max Chilton and Marussia are quite confident about making progress during the Monaco race.
Astonishment was the order of the day during the first day of testing at the Barcelona circuit last week after the Spanish Grand Prix. Indeed, Marussia’s Max Chilton found himself at the top of the timesheets, which surprised many observers, including the main person involved: We conducted very good tests last week, and the progress was evident.
Strong from his breakthrough, the Briton is determined to capitalize on his displayed progress to move up a level in Monaco, in a race that could well be eliminatory for many of his competitors: « Although we do not expect the timesheets to be the same as in Barcelona last week, we are encouraged by the work done on the car’s settings and will try to translate these improvements onto the track for the upcoming Grand Prix to help us reach a realistic step during the next race weekends. »
Chilton enjoys racing in Monaco and has prepared to take on the challenge of driving a single-seater at over 250 km/h between safety rails: « Aside from my home race at Silverstone, there’s no better atmosphere than at the Monaco Grand Prix, it’s electric. It may be the most demanding race on the calendar, but at the same time, it’s a fantastic experience from start to finish, and I really enjoy the unique challenges of this track. »
The Briton is therefore more than confident on this track that saw him achieve his best result in Formula 1, finishing 14th last year: Last year, I got my best result of the season here. So I hope to do the same this year, if not better!
