Sunday: Grosjean and Lotus cut down in their race for points
While he seemed in a good position, in the top 10, Romain Grosjean had to retire due to a gearbox problem. Pastor Maldonado, on the other hand, didn't really have the opportunity to shine.
Pastor Maldonado (no. 13) – 14th
For the Venezuelan, the race was not really brilliant, due to a lack of pace: « Today, it wasn’t my best race but I finished. My pace wasn’t fantastic but at least we made progress and I attacked as much as I could. We will look at the data because we seemed to lack pace on the straights which made overtaking difficult and defending as well. »
Romain Grosjean (no. 8) – Retirement (gearbox)
The French Grand Prix was promising, until a mechanical incident ruined everything: « We started by losing 4th gear but it got worse and then we lost all gears. It’s the first time we have such a problem, so we will have to understand what happened. »
He could legitimately hope for the points, but also wants to retain the positive: « It was quite good in the race because we were fighting for 9th place, so we were in the points, which is good progress for us. We didn’t make it to the finish today, but hopefully, we’ll finish in the points in Barcelona. »
