Friday: DRS issues for Pérez at Force India
If Nico Hülkenberg had a relatively quiet day, Sergio Pérez experienced issues with his adjustable rear wing during the first free practice sessions. He also pointed out the high degradation of the soft tires.
Nico Hülkenberg (No. 27) – 5th and 10th
For the German driver, Friday went smoothly in Shanghai: It was a fairly calm day where we completed our program. Even though he knows there’s still work to be done: There’s always work to do on the settings and some things we can try to optimize the car before tomorrow, but overall, I’m satisfied with what we’ve learned today.
All the elements are in the team’s hands for a good Saturday and Sunday: « The tire work was correct and we have all the data we need with the soft and medium tires to prepare for the rest of the weekend. »
Sergio Pérez (No. 11) – 15th and 15th
The day started relatively poorly for the Mexican, who is satisfied with his afternoon: « I had a problem with the DRS this morning, but the afternoon session went better and we managed to complete the set number of laps. »
As with many drivers, the problem is with the handling of the softest tires provided by Pirelli: « The tire work went as expected, and as we anticipated, the degradation was significant with the soft tires. I’m not entirely happy with the balance, so there are areas to work on tonight. »
