Official: Domenicali resigns and Mattiacci replaces him at Ferrari

The rumor had gained traction, even more so in the morning, and it is now confirmed: Stefano Domenicali is leaving the position of director of Scuderia Ferrari, which he had held since January 2008.

The Italian wanted to explain his decision and thank the entire team for these five years: « There are special moments in everyone’s professional life when we need courage to make difficult and very heartbreaking decisions. This is the time for a significant change. As a director, I take my responsibilities, as I always have, for our current situation. The decision was made with the aim of shaking things up and for the good of this group of people I feel close to. »

« With all my heart, I want to thank all the men and women of the team, the drivers, and the partners for the wonderful relationships we’ve enjoyed over the years. I hope that very soon, Ferrari will be back where it deserves to be. My final words of thanks go to our president, for always supporting me, and to all our fans. I only regret that we were not able to reap what we worked so hard to sow in recent years, » he stated in a press release.

Luca di Montezemolo, for his part, praises Domenicali’s work and introduces his successor: « I thank Stefano Domenicali for his constant dedication and efforts, but also for the great sense of responsibility he has shown, even today, by placing Ferrari’s interests above all others. I hold Domenicali in high esteem and have watched him grow professionally over the 23 years we have worked together, I wish him every success for the future. »

« I also want to wish all the best to Marco Mattiacci, whom I know to be a highly regarded manager and who knows the company well. He has accepted this challenge with enthusiasm, » he concluded.

Marco Mattiacci was, until today, the president of the American branch of Ferrari for North America, handling car sales. He joined Ferrari in 1999 and has never had roles related to sports for the Italian brand. He also held positions as sales director in South America, the Middle East, Russia, Finland, and finally, in Asia-Pacific.
