Official: Haas in Formula 1 in 2015!

Gene Haas, relayed by Autosport, indicated that he has received approval from the FIA to enter the Formula 1 World Championship as early as 2015.

The president of Haas Automation and head of the Stewart-Haas Racing NASCAR team is thrilled yet aware of the challenge: « Obviously, we are very happy to have obtained a Formula 1 license from the FIA. This is an exciting moment for me, Haas Automation, and everyone who wanted to see an American team return to Formula 1. Now, the hard work will begin. It’s a challenge we embrace as we work to get cars on the grid. I want to thank the FIA for this opportunity and the diligence applied to see our license application come to fruition. »

The tender, launched last December by the FIA, should have already resulted in a decision and chosen a new team by February 28 at the latest. Clearly, the process took longer so that the Federation and FOM, led by Bernie Ecclestone, could further evaluate the financial and economic capabilities of Gene Haas’s project. Details on the American’s project are expected next week, with the structure named Haas Formula.

The FIA also indicated in its statement that a second entity would be subject to further examination. Its name: Forza Rossa. This is the name of the company that distributes Ferrari cars in Romania.
