Bahrain Test 3 – Day 2 (morning): Hamilton leads, Ferrari stops and Lotus doesn’t move forward
As yesterday, it's a Mercedes that dominates the session at midday: this time, it's Lewis Hamilton at the wheel. He is currently ahead of Jean-Eric Vergne and Fernando Alonso. However, Ferrari had to end their testing.
The days follow one another and are similar in Bahrain since after dominating the Grand Prix, the Mercedes team dominates the tests. Lewis Hamilton is at the top of the timesheet after the morning session. However, he is also one of the most diligent with 50 laps completed. It is worth noting that it is the tire testing day for the Stuttgart team.
Far behind, we find the Toro Rosso of Jean-Eric Vergne, who caused the first red flag of the day, and the Ferrari of Fernando Alonso.
But the day is already over for Ferrari, which announced that a damaged chassis problem was behind the withdrawal: in fact, Fernando Alonso was using Kimi Räikkönen’s chassis today, and it suffered a violent impact last Friday – the famous kerb at turn 4 – which could be the cause of this problem.
Behind, Lotus was only able to complete 7 laps, all untimed. Romain Grosjean is normally expected to make way for Pastor Maldonado in the afternoon.
