Hamilton and Rosberg share their data at Mercedes
The double achieved by Mercedes last weekend in Bahrain was notably the result of an open policy carried out by the German team. Indeed, Lewis Hamilton stated that his teammate Nico Rosberg had studied his data to improve his driving.
The duel between the two Mercedes drivers seems to be based on sharing and mutual respect. The images following the Bahrain Grand Prix confirmed the good relationship between the two men, but this exchange does not stop there.
Indeed, Lewis Hamilton made an interesting revelation to the British newspaper Daily Mail about the exchange of data between him and Nico Rosberg, which notably allowed the latter to raise his game level on the track in Sakhir last Sunday: « Someone in the team conducted a meticulous study of my pace in Sepang. As soon as we arrived in Bahrain, Nico had these important documents in hand, which showed him where I was fast, and he used them to his advantage. »
Far from scaring the British world champion, this news will mainly allow him to do the same with Rosberg’s data, starting from the next Grand Prix in China: « Now, I am going to do the same. And I hope to capitalize on it. I will study this carefully and work hard over the next two weeks. »
The Mercedes team therefore seems to want to give a lot of freedom to its driver duo, which provided one of the most exciting races in recent years last weekend. Toto Wolff, the executive director of the star brand, is nevertheless keeping a close eye on the situation to prevent it from escalating.
