Bahrain Grand Prix: Sutil Penalized After Qualifying

Following the investigation conducted after the qualifying session of the Bahrain Grand Prix, the stewards decided to penalize Adrian Sutil with a 5-place grid drop, as the German forced Romain Grosjean off the track at the end of Q1. The FIA also imposed a 2-point penalty on the Sauber driver’s license.

Driver Adrian Sutil forced car number 8 [Romain Grosjean] off the track between turns 13 and 14 in a dangerous manner, the FIA – Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile stated in a release. The race stewards cited a breach of article 16.1 paragraph E of the 2014 F1 sporting regulations.

Adrian Sutil will therefore start from the last position, allowing Kamui Kobayashi, Jules Bianchi, Marcus Ericsson, and Max Chilton to move up one position on the grid.
