Bahrain: Van der Garde and Sirotkin behind the wheel of the Sauber
Bahrain will be the venue for the next Grand Prix of the season but also for the first private tests held during the season. Sauber will take the opportunity to give track time to its two reserve drivers, Giedo van der Garde and Sergey Sirotkin.
Sauber announced that Giedo van der Garde would drive the Sauber C33 during Free Practice 1 of the Bahrain Grand Prix (from April 4 to 6). He will replace the Mexican Esteban Gutierrez, who will logically resume his place in the seat for Free Practice 2.
But the Dutchman will also be at the wheel of the C33 on April 9th, the second day of the first private testing session during the 2014 season. The first day will be covered by the Swiss team’s other reserve driver, Sergey Sirotkin. The young Russian’s objective will be to secure his Super License, an essential pass to race in the top category, by accumulating kilometers during this day on the Sakhir circuit.
