2014 Malaysian Grand Prix: The race live

The second Grand Prix of the 2014 Formula 1 season takes place at the Sepang Circuit in Kuala Lumpur, at a time when rainfall can be abundant.

The qualifications were indeed the scene of the torrential rains that the Malaysian sky is capable of, as the session was delayed by 50 minutes before finally starting and being contested entirely under the rain. In these conditions, reminiscent of those in Melbourne, it was once again the Mercedes driven by Lewis Hamilton that took the lead, allowing the Briton to secure his second consecutive pole of the season and the 33rd of his career. He narrowly outpaced Sebastian Vettel, at the wheel of an always impressive Red Bull RB10, and his teammate, Nico Rosberg, who, like in Melbourne, will start from the second row. Behind these three men, the Ferraris of Fernando Alonso and Kimi Räikkönen showed that their level allowed them to hope for more than just a podium finish.

Faced with the ever-present risk of rain and the hot and humid conditions of Southeast Asia, the Malaysian furnace could ultimately turn into a shipwreck if conditions become chaotic and the mechanics struggle.
