2014 Australian Grand Prix: Ricciardo disqualified?
Second in the inaugural Australian Grand Prix of the 2014 season, Daniel Ricciardo could be disqualified for reasons related to fuel flow.
The FIA technical delegate, Jo Bauer, informed the Australian Grand Prix stewards by email about an anomaly on the Red Bull No. 3 driven by Daniel Ricciardo: « During the race, car No. 3 regularly exceeded the authorized fuel flow limit of 100 kg/h. As this is not in compliance with Article 5.1.4 of the Technical Regulations, I am reporting this issue to the stewards. »
The use of the present tense thus seems to indicate that the fuel flow excess is confirmed. It is up to the commissioners to take this into consideration and, perhaps, to sanction the Australian.
Update at 2:00 PM: Daniel Ricciardo has been disqualified. Red Bull has announced its intention to appeal this decision.
