Friday: Hülkenberg and Pérez confident at Force India
The day was very positive for the Sahara Force India drivers, Hülkenberg and Pérez, who believe that their car is competitive.
Nico Hülkenberg (No. 27) – 11th and 10th
At Force India, satisfaction is in order. For the German, aside from a spin at the end of Free Practice 2, the day went well: « I am quite happy because it was a calm day with a lot to learn. I had a little difficult moment at the end of FP2 when I put a wheel on the grass during braking, but the conditions were difficult because the sun was quite low in the sky. »
On all fronts, the Force India VJM07 performed well. The work will mainly focus on balance: « The day went well in terms of reliability and we seem quite competitive so far. Both tire compounds are working well, but there is still room for improvement in terms of balance, which we focused on in the afternoon. »
Sergio Pérez (No. 11) – 12th and 13th
« It was a fruitful day in terms of the work we achieved and I think we can be confident for the rest of the weekend, » added the Mexican, while noting that everything wasn’t perfect: « There are a few areas we need to improve, but the most important thing is that we managed to gather good information. »
Pérez, unlike Hülkenberg, is satisfied with the balance of the Force India: « I am happy with the overall balance of the car, so we have moved in the right direction with the settings. » Hampered in his long runs, he still believes he has enough information to decide calmly: « My long runs were not ideal due to traffic, but we have enough information to make our decision. »
