Marko doubts that Red Bull can catch up on their delay

The start of the season /f1/actualite/17027-essais-bahrein-2-le-bilan-des-quatre-journees.html is far from the expectations expressed by the Red Bull Racing team. The team, a four-time reigning world champion, is experiencing one of the most challenging periods in several years. The pre-season testing has revealed major issues with the new RB10, and the accumulated delay combined with the few laps covered during these days are causing great concerns, as confirmed by Helmut Marko: “We are not where we should be. For now, we don’t know how long it will take to catch up. The start of the season is two months too early for us…”

For the Austrian, the Renault engine manufacturer is responsible for this catastrophic situation: « Injecting ten million euros would not easily solve our problems. Renault must manage to make their engine work properly. Mercedes is far ahead of us. They have even been able to cover the distance of a Grand Prix in testing with their new car. We have concerns about Australia, of course, but also for the other races that follow. »

Throughout the pre-season test days, while Mercedes-powered teams are nearing the 5000 km mark, Red Bull barely surpasses 1700 km. “We are in a very serious situation,” concludes Marko.
