Williams: Felipe Nasr reserve driver and Banco do Brasil as sponsor

Following Felipe Massa’s arrival at the Williams team this year, the team has been forging associations with Brazilian companies, such as the oil company Petrobras. The latest deal, with Banco do Brasil, seals a contract with the legendary British team to have its logos displayed on the engine cover of the FW36 as well as on the drivers’ suits.

Frank Williams himself comments on this new partnership: “We have had a long and proud association with Brazil through our relationships with Brazilian drivers and companies from the country. This new association with Banco do Brasil maintains this heritage, and we share the ambition to achieve great things in the future. This partnership will help both our companies reach these goals, and we look forward to working together this season.”

Furthermore, Williams took the opportunity to officially appoint Felipe Nasr as a reserve driver for the season. The 21-year-old Brazilian, who finished fourth in the GP2 championship last year, completed his first testing session on Saturday and recorded an encouraging fourth fastest time.

« I am really happy to join the Williams family. » he stated. « They have a great history in the sport and some of the greatest Brazilian drivers of all time have raced for the team, so it is an honor to join names like [Nelson] Piquet, [Ayrton] Senna and [Felipe] Massa. It’s a fantastic opportunity for me. »

For his part, Frank Williams shares this optimism: “At Williams, we are accustomed to bringing new talents to the track and giving them a chance to prove they can be among the best. By participating in five Friday sessions this year, Felipe Nasr will have the opportunity to prove his competence, and I am confident in the contribution he can make to Williams in his role.”

Susie Wolff will also have the opportunity to drive with Williams during Grand Prix weekends.
