Ricciardo: Red Bull is “the best team in the world” and will “solve the problem”
The first outings of Red Bull's brand new single-seater were cause for concern last week. It is clear that the RB10 does not perfectly meet the expectations placed on it, but despite everything, Daniel Ricciardo remains positive and believes that he and his team will be competitive for the first race in Australia.
After the setback suffered in Jerez during the first tests of the year, the Red Bull team must quickly regroup and make the necessary modifications to finally work smoothly on the new RB10 during the upcoming test days scheduled in Bahrain this month.
After a sparse number of laps during the four scheduled days on the Spanish circuit, the Red Bull team, led by Adrian Newey and Christian Horner, did not hide their concern. New to the team, replacing Mark Webber, Daniel Ricciardo remains positive and thinks that the trend will reverse in the coming weeks: « Time is on our side. We have a few weeks ahead of us, which is a good thing. We know what the team is capable of and we know they are working hard. I know their worth. It’s often said that they get things moving faster than others, definitely, that makes me positive and optimistic about all this. »
To support his statement, the Australian confirms that the team has indeed identified the problem: « The main positive point is that although we could not solve the problem on the track, we have identified it. We just need time to solve it and we know it. We have the best team in the world and we will solve the problem. »
Ricciardo refutes the idea that Red Bull is already struggling for this new season, which will begin with a first home Grand Prix for the Perth native: « It’s not as if the season has already started. We’re not losing points because we’re not driving or anything like that. We still have plenty of time to make up for the lost track time so far. After the few laps I did in the car, it felt like a race car. There’s nothing out of the ordinary. »
The next test sessions will take place in Bahrain from February 19 to 22, then from February 27 to March 2, and they will be broadcast live on MotorsInside.
