Jerez Testing: Red Bull and Caterham Delayed, Marussia Approaching
The first morning of testing has already brought its share of problems to the brand-new cars of the 2014 F1 season.
While the first tests have started since 9:00 AM today, you can also find the live coverage from our editors, the series of presentations that preceded the season launch did not go as planned for Caterham. The Malaysian team, which was scheduled to present its CT04 at 8:45, ultimately had to cancel due to last-minute problems, the nature of which is not yet known. The team, on Twitter, also indicated that they are working tirelessly to try to get their car on the track before the end of the first day. Marcus Ericsson (#9) was supposed to be the first to drive the Caterham today.
On the Red Bull side, during a press conference on the sidelines of testing, Christian Horner and Adrian Newey indicated that stupid problems were preventing the RB10 from taking to the track this morning: in fact, a rear suspension was poorly mounted, forcing the team to dismantle the car to correct this mistake. A major setback for the four-time world champion team, who can take solace in the fact that few teams have taken to the track for the start of these tests. Sebastian Vettel (#1) will therefore have to wait to return to the track.
Finally, Marussia gave good news: the problems that delayed its arrival in Jerez are resolved, and the MR03 is eagerly awaited by team members tomorrow, Wednesday, January 29, to certainly complete its first laps.
