Marussia: a problem delays the return of the MR03

The debut of the Marussia MR03 has been postponed. The Russian team had indeed announced that it would be present from the first day of testing in Jerez, this Tuesday, January 28, but a problem that arose during the finalization of the single-seater is delaying its first laps.

Marussia, through the voice of John Booth, its team manager, preferred to address this technical problem at its facilities in Banbury, Great Britain, rather than risk taking a “sick” car to Jerez: « While the construction of our car was going very well according to plan, we encountered a small frustrating problem, which we are working hard to resolve at the Banbury technical center. »

When asked by Autosport, the team principal added: « It makes sense to tackle [this issue] while we still have the entire team and technical staff on site. Our goal is to resolve this issue as soon as possible and send the MR03 to Jerez, where the team is in place and awaiting its arrival. » Indeed, trucks bearing the Marussia » logo are already in Jerez, demonstrating the small team’s determination to get their car on the track if possible.

The fact remains that this setback will have some consequences on the work of the team, which, if it joins Spain at the end of the tests, may find itself facing a day on a wet track predicted by Pirelli on Friday, which may not be of much help to them.

This season, the Marussia MR03 will be powered by a Ferrari hybrid engine and will be driven by Jules Bianchi (#17) and Max Chilton (#4), the two drivers from the 2013 season.
