Toro Rosso unveils the STR9

After a 2013 season that will remain mixed, the men from Faenza are keen to regularly aim for the top 10. The “little Scuderia” unveiled its STR9 ahead of the Jerez tests in which it will participate starting tomorrow.

If Jean-Eric Vergne (#25) remains in the Toro Rosso team, it will be a rookie who will support him: Daniil Kvyat (#26). The 19-year-old Russian driver thus has his chance in the big leagues of Formula 1 in this year of technical changes.

The Italian team is also changing its engine supplier, swapping its Ferrari engine for Renault’s power unit. Without dwelling on the nose, which is just as unattractive as the cars already presented, it’s the rear of the car that catches the eye with sidepods that seem less imposing in profile than what we’ve seen so far. “The sidepods are larger than in the past because we had to make room for the radiators. The team did a great job finding space without losing aerodynamic performance,” notes Franz Tost.

This year, Toro Rosso will be keen to demonstrate that the team is not just a stepping stone for young Red Bull drivers, but that it can also stand on its own and climb higher in the standings.

« La saison /f1/actualite/16850-force-india-presente-sa-vjm07.html will be very interesting on different levels. We had to develop a new nose, new sidepods, and new wings. We have never started a design so early, » explains Tost.
