Eric Boullier to McLaren?
After leaving Lotus, Eric Boullier appears to be the favorite to replace Martin Whitmarsh at McLaren as team director.
According to Autosport, the news of Eric Boullier leaving his position as the director of the Lotus F1 team could be a stepping stone to McLaren. Since Ron Dennis returned to lead the McLaren Group, Martin Whitmarsh’s position has been weakened, and the Frenchman is considered the favorite for a potential replacement.
For several days, since the announcement of Ron Dennis’s return as CEO of the McLaren Group, it has become clear that Martin Whitmarsh might bear the consequences after a 2013 season in which none of the Woking cars finished on the podium.
If rumors emerged in December about a possible resignation of Eric Boullier from his position, Autosport believes that the Frenchman’s departure is more related to the current situation at McLaren. The British team is set to present its MP4-29 this Friday, January 24, at 1:00 PM, without it being possible to know yet whether an official announcement will be made regarding the director.
