Force India presents its VJM07
Surprise this morning in the small world of Formula 1. Force India unveiled its 2014 car, the VJM07, online on its website. The Indian team caught everyone off guard by being the first to present its new model.
The VJM07, the new single-seater from Force India, has just been unveiled on the team’s website. This car, driven by Sergio Pérez and Nico Hülkenberg, differs somewhat in its colors from the team’s previous versions. Black makes an appearance and even becomes dominant in a livery that still includes green and orange, the traditional colors of the Indian flag.
For the moment, only one photo is available on the website, but we can nevertheless see the nose of the single-seater, which is more sloping than on the 2013 model.
Vijay Mallya is already charmed by this new race car: « The VJM07 seems stunning and the new livery reflects the fact that Sahara Force India is evolving. I have always found our cars to be eye-catching, but adding black as a main color gives us a new, fiercer look. »
From a more technical perspective, he adds: « The new regulations have presented us with a huge challenge, but I am very proud of the approach we have taken and the direction of the technical team. It will be interesting to see how the different teams have interpreted the regulations, and at this stage, it is impossible to predict who has done the best job. »
The technical director, Andrew Green adds: « Almost every part is a new design, from the right front wing to the diffuser. The genetics of the VJM07 are similar to the 2013 car, but we had to achieve the same results in a slightly different manner. It has been a huge task to accommodate all the changes to the power unit – it’s the biggest change I’ve witnessed in the sport since I started in 1990. Cooling has been the biggest challenge with much of the summer spent working and trying to understand the cooling needs of the power unit, and the best way to optimize it within the chassis. »
