Caterham will present its single-seater on January 28

If the team has not yet revealed the name of the probable future "CT04," Caterham has, however, indicated the date of its launch: it will be January 28, on the morning of the first tests of the 2014 season, in Jerez.

Caterham will present its single-seater on January 28

After McLaren and Mercedes, it’s Caterham’s turn to announce the date for the unveiling of its new single-seater. Like the Stuttgart firm, the Anglo-Malaysian team will wait until the morning of the first tests in Jerez to reveal its new racing car.

It was through the official Twitter account of the team led by Cyril Abiteboul that the information was received. Caterham is thus the third team to announce a date. This announcement logically implies, and it’s the information that Caterham wanted to highlight, that the team will indeed be present from the first test days, as last year, unlike Lotus, which is waiting for the first tests in Bahrain to run the Lotus E22. As a reminder, Caterham had announced on December 13 the homologation of its chassis by the FIA.

If Caterham is indeed to have a car ready for its first laps, the question remains as to which two drivers will have the right to drive it. Before the Christmas holidays, rumors suggested a possibility of seeing Kamui Kobayashi return to F1 via Caterham. Among the other driver candidates are Charles Pic and Giedo van der Garde, the reserve driver Heikki Kovalainen, and Marcus Ericsson, a young last-minute candidate whose funding might secure him the seat.

McLaren – January 24

Caterham – January 28

Mercedes – January 28
