Alonso prepares for 2014 and urges Ferrari to leave 2013 behind them
Taking advantage of the winter break, some drivers can test their future 2014 rides... in simulators. This is the case for Fernando Alonso, who shares his first impressions after a few hours of testing.
For his first test session in the 2014 version simulator, the Ferrari driver seems satisfied with his day.
« I am satisfied with the progress of the day in the simulator. We managed to accomplish everything we had planned. It was nice to driver again, even if it was just virtually. »
The regulatory changes that occur between these two seasons are significant, and the drivers, as much as the engineers, will have to learn new working methods, new procedures, and it can be important for a driver to contribute to this. This is the case for the Asturian bull.
« We have realized many ideas with the engineers. This is only the beginning of learning, which will continue to grow, and it’s good to be able to contribute to it. »
But the Ferrari driver knows that his team has been affected by him being only second in the drivers’ championship once again, and he asks them to leave it behind and give their all in 2014. The Spaniard addressed the entire Ferrari sports team at the Italian team’s Christmas dinner.
« It’s never easy to finish second, but we have to move forward. Everyone expects a lot from us. Next year, we’ll try to do better and I know you are working hard. There are new rules and extra work for each of you, but you can count on maximum effort from us in terms of physical and mental preparations to be 100% fit in March for the opening race. »
Fernando Alonso then simply concluded his speech with a few words to encourage the team. “We are going to experience important moments so Forza Ferrari!”
