Hülkenberg will not finish the season with Lotus
Once considered as a replacement for Kimi Räikkönen, Nico Hülkenberg will not take the Finn's place for the last two races of the season and will drive for Sauber in Austin and Interlagos.
The information comes from across the Rhine: the newspaper Bild, via its website, has reported that Nico Hülkenberg, currently a Sauber driver, will not replace Kimi Räikkönen, who is suffering from a back injury, for the last two Grand Prix of the 2013 season.
The negotiations between Lotus, Sauber, and the German driver have failed. The newspaper reports that Hülkenberg had even gone as far as to mold a seat at Enstone in preparation. Autosport reports that it was the Sauber driver himself who chose, even when he had the opportunity, not to race with Lotus and to finish the season as he started it.
The agent of Nico Hülkenberg, Werner Heinz, relayed by Bild, seems to confirm this version: « We received an offer from Lotus to see if Nico was available and we discussed it. Despite everything, we decided that Nico would race the last two races with Sauber. »
The failure of this option, along with the cooling of the Davide Valsecchi solution according to some sources, raises the question of the name of Kimi Räikkönen’s replacement, as the Grand Prix begins in less than three days, and registration closes on Thursday.
