Saturday: Hülkenberg and Sauber Still Just as Performant
Still as comfortable as ever for several races, Sauber confirms its good performance at Yas Marina: Nico Hülkenberg believes he delivered the perfect lap to take 7th place, while Esteban Gutiérrez, a victim of strategic errors, did not make it past Q1.
Nico Hülkenberg – 7th and 6th [5th on the grid]:
« It was a perfect lap and I was really able to get the most out of the car. Overtaking will not be easy on this track. There are two DRS zones and in the past, there have been some overtaking maneuvers, but I think we have good top speed. We have been able to be in the top 10 all weekend and I am confident that this will continue to be the case tomorrow as well. »
Esteban Gutiérrez – 8th and 17th [16th on the grid]:
« It’s very disappointing to start 17th, because our pace is really good. We were on a fast lap-slow lap-fast lap strategy » and I didn’t have time to do a second lap. It was tricky because on the first lap I encountered traffic […] It was clearly a mistake, and we were only a few seconds short. »
