Saturday: Rosberg satisfied, Hamilton less so at Mercedes
Nico Rosberg almost snatched the pole position from Sebastian Vettel, but the German is still pleased to be second on the grid. Lewis Hamilton, on the other hand, will start in 5th position and hoped for more, but he isn't giving up for the race and hopes to finish on the podium.
Nico Rosberg – 3rd and 2nd:
We have had a very good weekend so far and we have been able to improve the car session after session with great work from my engineers and mechanics so a big thank you to them. I was so close to beating Sebastian for pole tonight but I am still really happy with this second place. It’s so important to start at the front here so we are in a very good position for the race. Our race pace was good on Friday so I feel confident for tomorrow night. I doubt we have enough performance to beat Sebastian but I will do my best to get a good start and then we’ll see what happens.
Lewis Hamilton – 5th and 5th:
The qualifications didn’t go very well for me tonight. I did my best on track but didn’t have great feelings in the car and wasn’t fast enough in the end. Clearly, the car was faster than what I was able to extract from it tonight, so obviously it’s frustrating not to have qualified closer to the front like Nico did. So, not a good day for me but that’s life. We will turn today’s negatives into positives overnight and I will attack hard in the race tomorrow. There are still drivers ahead of me that I can beat and our goal will be to be on the podium, it will be magnificent.
