Friday: Good start to the weekend for Lotus in Singapore
The two Lotus team drivers, Romain Grosjean and Kimi Räikkönen, expressed satisfaction with their first day of testing in Singapore. Both men believe that their E21 is quite competitive, even though the settings can still be improved.
Romain Grosjean – 6th and 5th:
We had a lot of problems today with the car which means I didn’t complete many laps. It wasn’t the ideal situation, but nevertheless, the base we have here is quite good. Hopefully, we can resolve these issues and have a good car for qualifying because grid position is important here. Tire degradation was better than expected with the super-softs working well, so we need to analyze the data carefully for the rest of the weekend.
Kimi Räikkönen – 5th and 8th:
« It was quite a good day. The car was fine, but I had a bit of traffic on my fastest lap with the super-soft tires, so I couldn’t show more speed. The car isn’t too bad, but there are still areas where we can make it faster. Times don’t count on Friday, so we’ll see what happens. »
