Hülkenberg holds no grudge against Ferrari
Nico Hülkenberg was keen to react to Kimi Räikkönen's recent signing with Ferrari. The driver who was already seen as a candidate for the Scuderia in 2014 admits he harbors no resentment towards the Italian team.
Many people predicted a bright future for Nico Hülkenberg. His transfer last year to Sauber, powered by Ferrari, was interpreted as a first step towards the Scuderia. But Kimi Räikkönen’s signing with the Italian team seems to have closed the door on a potential transfer of Hülkenberg to the legendary team for the next two years.
However, Hülkenberg does not hold it against the team for making this choice, and he remains on good terms with its members: « To be honest, our relationship is as positive and good as before. »
Some media had reported that Ferrari informed Hülkenberg’s manager of the decision via a simple text message. The German driver denies this version: « There were some misunderstandings in the media. It did not happen like that. »
The current Sauber driver is now looking to the future: « I had a chance. But there’s no point in dwelling on it too much. The history is made, and I’m eager to move forward. The priority is to find a good car. Nothing is finalized. I’m examining several options and hope to come back with good things for the future. »
We already know that Hülkenberg’s future will no longer be with Sauber, as the German driver, currently 14th in the championship with 17 points, has exercised his contract release clause with the Swiss team earlier this year.
