Sunday: Vettel offers his 40th victory to Red Bull

Sebastian Vettel – 1st:

« It’s fantastic to win this Grand Prix again. I managed to take the first corner! I locked my front right wheel, and it didn’t seem to come back. I made a big flat spot, which I felt immediately, and I wasn’t sure the tire would hold, but luckily I managed to make it round again and had a great first stint. I pushed to create a bit of a gap, in case we had to stop early and switch to a two-stop strategy. We had a gearbox problem, and I had to short-shift, which means we lost time on the straights, but I tried to make up for it in the corners. It’s great to finish on the top step. The podium here is always very passionate. We are in Italy, and when you walk outside the circuit, you see Ferrari gear and items in all the shops, even in the smallest sizes; it’s part of their DNA, which I understand. It was great for the tifosi to have Fernando on the podium today. The season is going well, and we’re working hard, but we take each race as it comes. We’re looking forward to Singapore, which I’m eager to finish; I think it’s the toughest race of the year. »

Mark Webber – 3rd:

« It’s a great position here, and it’s very special to finish on the podium. This isn’t the track where I’ve had the best results in the past, so it’s kind of my best in qualifying and race. I felt better with the medium tires today; I had a nice battle with Fernando, well done to him, then I charged headlong and continued my race. We passed Felipe in the pits, which was great. I was happy with my in-lap, the stop was very good, and then my out-lap was solid, so we cleared him quite easily. We had to take care of the gearbox at the end, but overall it was a good result. Seb is very strong here, and it’s great to achieve such a result today. »
