Sunday: Grosjean saves the day at Lotus
After a failed qualifying, Kimi Räikkönen was unable to capitalize on the very good pace of his Lotus to bring back significant points due to the first chicane incident that forced him to pit on the first lap. On Romain Grosjean's side, the race went more smoothly, and the Franco-Swiss driver was able to fight to enter the top 10.
Romain Grosjean – 8th:
« It’s not easy to follow a car with the aero setup we had for the race here, but we achieved the best possible result given our start from the 13th position. Unfortunately, we had a bad pit stop where we encountered an electronic problem and the light didn’t turn green, so we lost a few seconds. I think we could have come out ahead of the two McLarens and the Toro Rosso, which would have made things a bit easier for a better result. I had a nice battle with Lewis on the last lap. I think we did our best here at Monza and I hope that for Singapore we can return to the performance level we had in Budapest. »
Kimi Räikkönen – 11th:
« When I lost my front wing, I had to come in and put a new one on, which meant an additional pit stop that wasn’t planned. It’s not just the time spent in the pits, but you also have to make your way through the track afterwards. We did a very good job with that and the car felt good, which was surprising given where we were on Saturday. Unfortunately, there’s not much to do after the start we had. »
