Friday: Ferrari will need to find a few tenths

Fernando Alonso – 2nd and 5th:

The feeling is the same as on any Friday, which means we are neither very happy nor too disappointed with our level of performance, and we will have to wait to see how the qualifying session unfolds before having a true picture. Red Bull seems very strong here again, and we will have a lot of work to do to be as well-prepared as possible for the qualifications, in order to find the few missing tenths. Even though we still need to analyze the data collected today, several new improvements brought here for this race seem to be working well, while others require further evaluation. We need to make the most of what we have at our disposal and try to achieve a good qualifying session and a good race in front of our home crowd. Let’s also hope the weather will be on our side, as the forecast for Sunday predicts storms, which is why we need to be ready regardless of the conditions. Tire degradation is low here, and we will clearly see fewer stops than in other races.

Felipe Massa – 14th and 8th:

« Today, we managed to test everything that was on the program, namely trials of several aerodynamic solutions to find the best level of downforce. Now, our next task is to analyze all the data to understand how to improve the car for qualifying and the race. Not everything went perfectly, especially at the end of the second session when, upon arriving at the first chicane, I had a gearbox issue. While trying to shift from first to second, it immediately went into third, and at that moment, I returned slowly to the pits. We don’t know exactly what happened, but I don’t think it was serious. It won’t be an easy weekend, because our main rivals posted very good times with both compounds and in race conditions, but we will do everything we can to be as competitive as possible. »
