Sunday: Williams drivers leave Spa empty-handed
Pastor Maldonado experienced a complicated race, particularly following an accident with Paul di Resta, for which he received a penalty that made him drop in the standings. Valtteri Bottas had a calmer race, but his Williams was not fast enough with the hard tires, and he could do no better than 15th place.
Valtteri Bottas – 15th:
Today’s race was not the easiest for us. We struggled to keep up the pace in the second sector, which made it difficult to get closer to the cars in front, and once I was overtaken, it was very hard to regain my position. We need to move forward and understand why our race pace wasn’t as good today and try to make improvements for Monza.
Pastor Maldonado – 17th:
« I had a good start and immediately gained a few positions, but we struggled to have a good pace during the second stint and I couldn’t attack or overtake the cars ahead. I then had a collision with di Resta in the last corner when our paths crossed because I was going to enter the pits. It was a difficult situation because I was battling with the Sauber and I didn’t see di Resta on the outside as I was heading towards the pit lane. I tried to brake to avoid the accident but it was too late. It wasn’t a good weekend for us, but we must continue to work hard and improve the car’s performance. »
