Friday: Williams struggles with balance issues
For the Williams team, the day was rather mixed, with both drivers - Pastor Maldonado and Valtteri Bottas - complaining about balance issues with the car. The Finn also noted better use of hard tires by his single-seater.
Valtteri Bottas – 10th and 17th:
« It was difficult to test anything during the first session due to the variable weather, with the track wet on one part of the circuit but dry on the other. The second dry session was more productive, and we conducted interesting tests, so we will be able to analyze the data from them to make improvements to the setup for tomorrow. My car is currently more competitive with the hard tires, and we are still working to improve the overall balance of the car on the medium tires.
Pastor Maldonado – 12th and 14th:
Today, I had trouble finding the right balance with the car, and there is still a lot of work to be done to get to where we want to be. We are not very far from finding more speed, but others around us are also progressing, which makes closing the gap difficult. Nevertheless, we will try to optimize what we have and adjust the settings to find improvements in balance this weekend.
