Saturday: There are still many tires left for the Sauber drivers
Due to his engine problem and lost track time, Esteban Gutiérrez saw his qualifying end in Q1, but he hopes to make a comeback tomorrow. Nico Hülkenberg will start 12th, and the German driver aims for points.
Nico Hülkenberg – 14th and 12th:
« There were only 0.08 seconds with the 8th place, so even less with the 10th. The midfield is very tight right now. But I’m not disappointed, because I did a very good lap and it was the maximum I could extract from the car. I think we can be happy with this 12th place, because realistically, that’s where we are, and we can have a good race from this position. Tomorrow, I need to make a good start and hope to fight for one or two points. »
Esteban Gutiérrez – 22nd and 17th:
« Today did not go as we wanted. It was a real challenge with the track time lost this morning. It was obviously not ideal, but I thought it wouldn’t be too problematic, so it’s disappointing to come to qualifying and get this kind of result. I hoped to be closer to the front and to enter Q2. We had the pace, that’s for sure. However, the track conditions drastically changed between yesterday and today, and it was very difficult to adapt to that in just one lap. Tomorrow, the race will be long. I need to get a good start and then try to climb up the hierarchy. »
