Friday: Marussia seeks more performance to compete

Jules Bianchi – 21st and 21st

« It was a busy Friday for us, but we’re not yet where we want to be with the car. It seems we need to find more performance if we want to be able to fight for a better position this weekend against our direct rivals. We are also suffering from tire degradation, which is quite high, so we still have a lot to look at and discuss with the engineers for tomorrow. »

Max Chilton – Did not participate and 22nd

« It’s great to be back on track at the Hungaroring, a place where I have good memories, especially after my victory in GP2 last year. It was a short day for me, having missed free practice 1, so I had a pretty busy afternoon given everything there was to do. We completed our usual program but the car is not quite right yet. I’m happy with my race pace but since I missed the session this morning, I couldn’t work on my fast laps. I also lost a bit of time with the soft tires towards the end of the session after a large piece of rubber hit my sun shield and broke it, which meant I had to pit to replace it. We have a bit of work to do to extract more performance from the car so that’s something we will be looking into for tomorrow. »

Rodolfo Gonzalez – 22nd and did not participate

After a positive test session with young drivers at Silverstone last week, it was good to get back in the car again for Free Practice 1 to apply what I learned there. Each new circuit presents a different challenge, and I feel like I’m starting to get into a good rhythm now, which helps me work on my consistency and speed.
