Red Bull and Force India fined
The Red Bull and Force India teams have been fined by the stewards of the German Grand Prix following two incidents in the pits.
During his first pit stop, Paul di Resta was released by his mechanics a bit too early and almost collided with Jean-Eric Vergne’s Toro Rosso, which was also entering the pits. The Frenchman had to slow down to let the Scotsman pass even though he had the right of way.
The track marshals analyzed the action after the Grand Prix and decided to sanction the Indian team with a fine of 5,000 euros for this incident.
The Red Bull team was also penalized, but with a larger fine of 30,000 euros following the incident that marred Mark Webber’s first stop. The Australian driver left his pit spot while his right-rear wheel was not secured. The wheel came off and hit Paul Allen, a FOM cameraman who was a few pits down – fortunately, he wasn’t seriously injured, he was taken to a hospital and suffers from several broken ribs and a fractured clavicle according to the latest reports.
