5-place penalty for Pic
Charles Pic will start from the last place on the grid of the German Grand Prix in just over an hour after receiving a 5-place penalty.
Charles Pic managed to qualify ahead of his teammate Giedo van der Garde and the two Marussias of Jules Bianchi and Max Chilton, and he was set to start from 19th position on the grid shortly. However, the Caterham driver will now start from the last position on the grid after receiving a penalty.
The Caterham team had to change an intermediate shaft in the gearbox of the French driver’s car, which resulted in a 5-place grid penalty because it is not a part that can be changed without incurring a penalty.
With this penalty, it is therefore Jules Bianchi who will be the leading driver of the smaller teams, with the Frenchman starting from 19th place ahead of Giedo van der Garde, Max Chilton, and finally Charles Pic, who will certainly try to do what it takes to move up in the initial laps.
