Friday: Red Bull drivers praise Pirelli’s response
After a rather quiet day for them, the Red Bull drivers, led by Sebastian Vettel, applaud Pirelli's response and consider that the new tires are quite adequate.
Sebastian Vettel – 8th and 1st
« I wasn’t very happy with the car this morning and Mercedes was quick, but in the afternoon we were in better shape. We’ll see, but so far I’m happy. To be clear about yesterday and the GPDA meeting: the general agreement was that we were happy that Pirelli brought a new tire specification for this race and we wanted to thank them for their flexibility and quick response. They were able to find a solution in just a few days. The circumstances under which we raced at Silverstone were not something we can accept, but I don’t think we’ll see these problems again. »
Mark Webber – 3rd and 3rd
« It was a decent day and we had dry weather, which was good. This means we were able to complete our stints with both compounds and the new tires seem good. Pirelli did what they could and went back to tires they know how they work here. It is impossible to say how they will affect the car’s performance, but I feel comfortable so far. »
