Saturday: All we think about is the race at Ferrari

Fernando Alonso – 7th and 10th:

« The weekend was complicated for us due to problems we couldn’t resolve, in various areas such as car balance, handling, and performance. We can consider today as the worst Saturday of the season, given that we have never finished so low, but now we must react immediately to try to regain the form we showed at the beginning of the year. We definitely expected better here, given that it’s a track that suits our cars’ characteristics better than others. In Q3, we hesitated a bit on the tire choice: we went out on hards because they had worked well in free practice this morning and in Q1. Then we switched to mediums with the idea of coming back to the pits directly if it didn’t go well, but in the end, we decided to finish the lap; nevertheless, our rivals were faster. Now, we have to try to do the same, starting tomorrow: even if the race will be a tough battle, we know how things can change in a race. We hope we can make a good comeback and bring back as many points as possible. »

Felipe Massa – 15th and 12th:

« It was an extremely difficult day and we didn’t have the car we were expecting here, and we had no grip, even with new tires. Compared to the other single-seaters, we struggled to bring together the elements for a good lap. The time lost when I went off track yesterday and the interruption this morning to change the engine definitely cost me some precious kilometers, and in qualifying, I missed the few tenths needed to get into Q3. Now, we have to think about tomorrow, given that the race is a whole different thing, and I hope that with a high fuel load and higher temperatures, things will change in our favor. If the car is more competitive, I’m sure I can make some overtakes and fight for a good result. »
