Sunday: The Williams is not up to standard in dry conditions
Valtteri Bottas lost a lot of positions between the start and the finish, 11 to be precise, with the Finn finishing 14th, far from the points. Therefore, it was a missed objective for the Williams team, which still hasn't scored a single point in 2013. Like his teammate, Maldonado also had a complicated race in Canada.
Valtteri Bottas – 14th:
« We fought hard to try and score some points today but in the end, we simply didn’t have the necessary pace with the car. I didn’t get a very good start, which allowed several cars to pass me on the first lap, and in dry conditions, we simply couldn’t match the performance level shown yesterday. Tire wear in the first stint was also very high which made it difficult to stay in the top 10. Nevertheless, I feel I learned a lot from this race today and as a team, we can take some positives from this weekend. Hopefully, we can continue to make progress and have a better race at Silverstone in front of our home crowd who will support us. »
Pastor Maldonado – 16th:
We expected a better result today in the race. We knew we didn’t have the top speed to fight at the front, but we struggled to find the right rhythm from the beginning of the race. The car was much better in the rain compared to the hot and dry weather we had today, so we need to understand why. After Valtteri’s good result yesterday, it has been a challenging end to the weekend for us with neither car in the points. There are now three weeks until the next race, so we need to continue working to improve the overall performance of the car.
