Saturday: Disappointment for Hülkenberg and Sauber
While he was on a good lap, Nico Hülkenberg saw the red flag come out. The German driver is disappointed but still believes he will have a chance to climb back up in the race tomorrow. The same goes for Esteban Gutiérrez, who hopes to gain positions in the race tomorrow.
Nico Hülkenberg – 15th and 11th [9th on the grid]:
« I really didn’t have any luck today. I was on a good lap and could have been in Q3, but then the red flag came out 200 meters before the finish line. But I think that after a difficult day yesterday, we improved a bit today, and 11th place is not such a bad position to start from – it’s close to the points. According to the weather forecast, tomorrow will be dry and warmer than the whole weekend. We have to wait and see how competitive we will be. »
Esteban Gutiérrez – 16th and 15th:
Today’s conditions were very tricky. I was trying to find the limit of the car, and finding grip was difficult. A red flag interrupted Q2, and then it was a challenge to put in a good lap. Even though free practice 3 was shortened, we were able to see what was possible for qualifying. We’re pushing for the top 10 and need to fight for Q3. For tomorrow’s race, we’re not certain about the weather, but I guess it will be dry. This could be good for us because we decided to run low downforce settings. Hopefully, this will help us overtake.
