Friday: Productive day for Sutil and Force India
Despite the tricky conditions this morning, the Force India team was active, taking advantage of the wet track to improve the car in the rain. The afternoon was an opportunity to confirm the good performance of the Indian team's car, despite a problem that quickly ended Paul di Resta's session, the leader of free practice 1.
Paul di Resta – 1st and 13th:
« We were quite cautious with the wet weather this morning and only switched to dry tires in the last few minutes of the session. Before that, I had a good stint with intermediates and was happy with the performance – surely the most comfortable with intermediate tires this year. So overall, we didn’t seem too bad in these wet conditions. This afternoon was the opportunity to carry out the program with dry tires and try to find the right balance for the car. Unfortunately, things were cut short with an electrical problem, so I couldn’t do the long stints we had planned for the end of the session. »
Adrian Sutil – 14th and 8th:
« We had a lot of different track conditions today, but the car was fast in both sessions. The wet morning gave us the chance to improve our performance with the intermediate tires, and the car seemed good. In the dry this afternoon, the main issue was getting heat into the front tires, especially the mediums. With the super softs, there was better grip and the long runs seemed quite competitive, so it seems we are at our usual level here. Tonight, we just need to work on making the car more consistent. »
