A Mercedes engine for Williams in 2014?
With the arrival of the 1.6L Turbo V6 in 2014, the Williams team might change its engine supplier. Indeed, the Grove-based team could drop Renault in favor of Mercedes.
In /f1/actualite/15539-toto-wolff-pour-mercedes-ce-nest-pas-ideal-de-perdre-mclaren.html, Renault is the engine supplier for 4 teams: Red Bull, Lotus, Williams, and Caterham. But next year, things could change. Indeed, the arrival of the V6 1.6L Turbo could shift the dynamics, especially since, as we mentioned earlier, the French engine supplier would be the most expensive, which is not to everyone’s liking.
According to *Blick*, Williams has allegedly already decided not to continue with Renault next season and to choose Mercedes instead, largely because of the lower price demanded by the German manufacturer. Still according to the Swiss publication, more information could be revealed this weekend during the Monaco Grand Prix.
This weekend, some observers were expecting a possible announcement regarding an engine supply for Team Toro Rosso by Renault starting from 2014, but it seems that not all details are finalized, and the official announcement might not occur this weekend.
One thing is for sure, with the arrival of new engine blocks and the entry of a new competitor – Honda – and the likely departure of Cosworth, the engine landscape could be revised from the next season.
