“Positive race” for Charles Pic and Caterham
Charles Pic started last this afternoon in Barcelona and the Frenchman proved the value of the Caterham CT03 in the race by coming back to finish ahead of the Marussia and just behind a Williams. Pic is delighted to see the progress made by the Leafield team.
Charles Pic started from the last position on the starting grid of the Spanish Grand Prix this afternoon, after problems during qualifying to properly set up the new package brought by Caterham and a mistake in tire usage.
The Frenchman finally managed to finish ahead of the Marussia drivers and just behind Valtteri Bottas’s Williams, which delighted him, as he shared during his daily press briefing in the Barcelona paddock: « It was a positive race for us. The qualifications were disappointing after the small problem we had, but we corrected that well today. We are clearly ahead of the two Marussia, and in the last stint, we are fighting with Williams, so I think it’s encouraging for the future. »
In the end, the Spanish weekend was quite successful according to Pic, but there is still more performance to come from the new parts, and work will need to be done on this by Monaco: « There were many new developments this weekend, so the goal is really to take the time to analyze all the data collected this weekend to understand this new package because I think there is a small margin for optimization for the next race. »
