Sunday: Another podium for Räikkönen and Lotus
Kimi Räikkönen hoped to fight for the victory today, but his Lotus was ultimately not fast enough to make it happen. He is nevertheless pleased with this new podium. Romain Grosjean, on the other hand, had to retire due to a suspension failure.
Kimi Räikkönen – 2nd:
« Unfortunately, it’s another second place. So there’s not much to celebrate. The car was good and we did everything we could today but we didn’t have a sufficient pace to threaten Fernando (Alonso). I drove at my best and it’s good for our championship standings that Sebastian (Vettel) finished behind us. It’s good for me and for the team to finish on the podium. Now, let’s see what we can do in Monaco. »
Romain Grosjean – Retirement:
I made a bad start but, after that, I was in the right rhythm. As we know we can maintain good strategies, we had the potential for a very good result today. The car was performing well until there was an issue with the rear suspension which forced me to return to the pits and retire. It’s really unfortunate. It’s always disappointing for everyone when such circumstances occur but there’s no one to blame. That’s racing!
