Inspired by F1, Renault unveils the Twizy Renault Sport F1

As a long-time Formula 1 engine manufacturer, Renault does not hesitate to demonstrate the link that can be made between the technology used and developed in Formula 1 and the technology found in its production cars. This notably led to an astonishing vehicle, the Renault Espace F1 in 1994.

Renault Sport F1 has just unveiled a new concept, based on a vehicle seen on our roads but enhanced with some touches borrowed from Formula 1, the Twizy Renault Sport F1. As a reminder, the Twizy is a 100% electric quadricycle designed for urban environments and has only 2 seats.

This concept car is notably equipped with a front blade, side pontoons, a rear wing, and a diffuser incorporating a F1-type rain light. This Twizy RSF1 features a Formula 1 KERS, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h with the speed of the Mégane R.S., Renault’s most high-performance model, according to the brand’s statement.

This vehicle, which is unlikely to be mass-marketed in the long term, is primarily a technological showcase for Renault to demonstrate the technological link between F1 and its production cars. To present this aspect as best as possible to F1 fans and the general public, this Twizy Renault Sport F1 will be displayed at several events this year, starting with the Spanish stage at Motorland Aragon of the World Series by Renault this weekend and also at the Barcelona Motor Show, which will take place from May 11 to 19, 2013.
