The FIA continues with its telemetry supplier despite repeated problems
During the first four Grand Prix races of the 2013 Formula 1 season, the FIA encountered problems with its telemetry system. However, despite these repeated complications, it decided to continue placing its trust in its supplier, with whom it has been contracted only since the beginning of the year.
Since the beginning of the season, the FIA has been encountering issues with its telemetry system. This has particularly disrupted the drivers who no longer have the visualization of flags directly in their cockpit. It also does not allow the FIA to deactivate and reactivate the DRS in case of a yellow flag and it also affects the F1’s Safety Car mode in case the safety car enters the track.
The problem first appeared in Melbourne, where the FIA decided to deactivate its system. It then persisted in Sepang in Malaysia, China, and more recently in Bahrain. These problems are partly due to the change of supplier for this system. Last year, it was the company EM that handled this market, but this year, the FIA decided to entrust it to Riedel.
While some believed a return to the old EM system was possible, according to *Autosport*, the International Automobile Federation has decided to maintain its confidence in Riedel and hopes the three weeks between Bahrain and the next Grand Prix in Barcelona will allow the company to fix the problems.
