Sunday: A double podium for Team Lotus
The Lotus team managed to have both its drivers on the podium despite starting from 8th on the grid for Räikkönen and 11th for Grosjean. While Romain Grosjean is delighted with his comeback, Kimi Räikkönen would have liked to finish one place higher, but he knows that his Lotus was not able to compete with Sebastian Vettel's Red Bull.
Kimi Räikkönen – 2nd:
« You’re never really happy if you don’t win, but I think second place is the best you can do otherwise. I drove to the maximum, and the car had the pace we lacked yesterday in qualifying, so it was a good result. We didn’t have the speed to fight against Sebastian today, but we had the pace to place both cars on the podium, so I’m happy for the team. »
Romain Grosjean – 3rd:
« It’s nice to be back on the podium, and it’s a fantastic result for the team. It hasn’t been an easy start to the season for me, but we’ve made progress throughout the weekend, and we are back where we should be. I felt much more comfortable in the car, and today’s result is a well-deserved reward for everyone after all our efforts. It was truly an exciting race with lots of overtaking and some tense moments, so starting from 11th place and finishing on the podium is really satisfying. We’ve been consistent already, finishing every race in the points, but now it’s a big result we are looking for, and it’s a good start for this challenge. »
